Created in 2015 by an Army Drill Sergeant, Ruck ‘N’ Run® is the first ever boot-camp-inspired walk/run event that honors Veterans, builds camaraderie, and connects the community.
Ruck 'N' Run® was born out of a desire to:
Honor those who serve(d) by refocusing the over-commercialization of U.S. military observances.
Build camaraderie through shared experiences, interests, and accomplishments.
Connect the community through common ground, collective goals, and a deep sense of belonging, tradition, and purpose.

Ruck ‘N’ Run® is a walk/run event with a little extra. There are exercise stations along the route specifically designed to give Registrants a small taste of military training. Registrants will complete a set of exercises before continuing (push-ups, body-weight squats, etc. Specific info below, under Route.)
Ruckers walk with a rucksack/backpack/weighted vest. We recommend loading your rucksack/backpack with canned goods to donate after. We do not provide rucksacks/backpacks/weighted vests.
Runners run. Will not carry any weight.
Which registrant type are you? (Choose wisely. Changing registration type is not permitted once submitted.)
Rucker or Runner, Participant or Competitor, Solo or Team
Participant: (just for fun)
Completes 25, 10, or 0 reps at each station. It’s up to you.
Earns a finisher's medal.
Competitor:
Required to complete 25 reps at each station. No modified exercises allowed if you’re a Competitor (Solo or Team).
Ruckers/Competitors only: Rucksack/backpack/weighted vest must be 45lbs for men / 35lbs for women, weighed before and after the event by our volunteers at the weight station. You’ll get an orange hex sticker for your bib so everyone knows you’re a Rucker/Competitor.
Runners/Competitors will not carry weight, at all but are required to do 25 reps at each station. You’ll get an orange hex sticker for your bib so everyone knows you’re a Runner/Competitor.
Earns a finisher's medal.
Can earn a placement medal (1st/2nd/3rd, Rucker/Runner, Male/Female for each distance).
We do not offer age brackets.
Team Participant: (just for fun)
Minimum of four Ruckers or Runners.
Each member completes 25, 10, or 0 reps at each station. It’s up to you.
Start and finish as a Team!
Each team member earns a finisher's medal
Team Competitor:
Minimum of four Ruckers or Runners (must all be registered the same).
Each team member is required to complete 25 reps at each station.
Rucksack/backpack/weighted vest must be 45lbs for men / 35lbs for women.
Runners will not carry weight, at all.
Each team member earns a finisher's medal.
Can earn a team award.
Each team member can also earn a placement medal since the requirements are the same.
***Note: The stations are designed to be completed without the necessity of rucksack/backpack/weighted vest removal. It’s your choice to remove it to complete the station. However, the challenge is to keep it on, as this adds weight to the exercise. Safety first, though. Getting hit in the head with your rucksack/backpack/weighted vest while during burpees is not fun or required. These exercises are done on the “honor system.” Participants and Participant Teams: You’re encouraged to complete the prescribed exercise at each station before continuing. This is to give you a small taste of boot camp.***
Q: Does everyone who finishes the event earn a finisher's medal?
A: Yes.
Q: Can Team Competitor members also earn a solo placement medal?
A: Yes, since the requirements are the same for Competitors and Team Competitor members.
